Six companies and one affiliated chapter were selected to receive the 2009 ASA Care Award, which recognizes outstanding corporate social responsibility initiatives among ASA member companies and affiliated chapters.
A panel of independent CSR specialists selected the winners: Express Employment Professionals, Labor Finders International Inc., and Volt Workforce Solutions (firms with more than $100 million in annual sales); Carol Harris Staffing, the Delta Cos., and JFC Staffing (firms with $15 million–$100 million); and the Oregon Staffing Association (ASA-affiliated chapter).
"The ASA Care Awards demonstrated the breadth of the staffing industry's impact on the lives of others and the communities we live in," says award judge Serenity Edwards, CIPP, of the Direct Marketing Association. "That impact has the potential to grow as more staffing companies continue to develop socially responsible programs and promote the good work they are doing across the nation."
In 2008, 200 corporate Express Employment Professionals employees volunteered approximately 14,000 hours to different organizations as part of its annual corporate giving program. Labor Finders assisted newly jobless and homeless people in Sacramento, CA, by providing lunch and job coaching.
Volt Workforce Solutions launched the Volt Military Heroes Program, which was designed to ease servicemembers’ transition to civilian life while providing well-trained, qualified candidates to clients.
Carol Harris Staffing has built a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Allegheny Valley.
Each year, the Delta Cos. sets aside a percentage of revenue and employee time to contribute to philanthropic initiatives.
JFC Staffing Associates met its goal of raising $10,000 to support a pediatric cancer program by inviting all employees to participate in fund-raising event planning.
The Oregon Staffing Association collaborated with the Oregon’s Preparing Tomorrow's Work Force Committee participated in the Northwest Youth Careers Expo.
